Delhi Govt committed to support 300th anny celebration of Guru Gra
New Delhi, Feb 4 (UNI) Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said the Delhi Government is committed to provide all possible support to the celebration to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Guru Granth Sahib.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating a National Symposium on Guru, Granth and Panth on the occasion of 300th anniversary celebrations at Guru Granth Sahib at GTB Khalsa Colleage at the Delhi University, Ms Dikshit said the Delhi Government will do the needful for providing land for establishing Gurudwaras in new colonies on the demand of the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee.
The Chief Minister said the Central Government would release an amount of Rs 800 crores for the celebrations.
''Delhi Government is committed to provide all possible support to this celebration,''Ms Dikshit said.
Speaking on the occasion, the Delhi Chief Minister said teachings of Guru Granth Sahib are relevant even today.
''This holy Granth is a unique spiritual text which has been compiled with due care. This Granth sets an example of religious tolerance in the entire world. The Guru Granth Sahib has given equal importance to all religions. Different languages like Sanskrit, Braj, Punjabi, Arabic and persian have been used in this Holy Granth,''she said.
Also present on the occasion were Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh, President of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee Paramjeet Singh Sarna and renowned Hindi Writer Prof.
Namwar Singh and other eminent writers.
