Coal mining needs constant vigil to ensure safety : Sharma

Jamshedpur, Feb 4 (UNI) The coal experts today emphasised on constant vigil to ensure safety during coal mining and felt safety should be accorded utmost priority.

Speaking on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee Annual Coal Mines Safety Week at Tata Steel's West Bokaro coal mines today, Mr M M Sharma, Director General of Mines Safety, said, '' Today, mining is categorized as one of the most hazardous and challenging responsibilities,that requires a constant vigil to ensure safety at work and meet the targets set in due course. '' Mr Sharma expressed happiness over the fact that last year was recorded as the year with the lowest accident in the history of mining industries. This achievement has been possible only through continuous efforts of technical experts of coal companies.

Mr A M Mishra, vice-president (Raw Material), Tata Steel, said, '' It is our moral responsibility to avoid accidents and observe safety rules laid down. Safety is of utmost importance and no compromise must be done in this area. '' UNI BDG SJC DB2028
