11 child labourers rescued in Thane
Thane, Feb 3 (UNI) Eleven child labourers from Thane were freed and six people who employed them arrested by the police here.
In a special drive conducted with the Juvenile Aid Police Unit (JAPU) and an NGO 'Pratham', children in the age group of 12 to 16 years, working in bakeries, garages and workshops at Naupada in Thane city were rescued and sent to remand home in Bhiwandi. Acting on the complaint of Mr Avinash Avghade of 'Pratham', the police raided Uthalsar, Teen Hath Naka and Teen Petrol Pump and rescued the child labourers , hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Nepal, Orissa and Bihar.
