Young couple attempts suicide, saved by timely rescue
New Delhi, Feb 2 (UNI) A young couple attempted suicide by consuming poisonous substance in Shalimar Bagh area of north-west Delhi, but were saved with the timely intervention of the police.
Maninder (25) and Hina (23) were found 'drooling' in their car at about 2100 hrs last night on Som Bazar Road in Shalimar Bagh when pedestrians called the police, said a police official.
They were almost semi-conscious when they were rushed to the Babu Jagjiwan Ram Hospital. The boy was foaming at the mouth.
An empty phenyl bottle was recovered from the car along with two suicide notes - one by the girl and another by the boy.
However, both were stable after 'stomach wash' yesterday itself and were relieved from the hospital this morning.
Sources said both had a four-year-long affair and even after Maninder's marrage, about two years back, kept meeting.
Maninder was married off by his family after the girl's father refused his marriage proposal.
In his suicide note the boy apologised to his wife saying he was sorry for taking this step as he could not forget Hina.
The girl, in her note, said as she could not marry Maninder and could not be without him she was ending her life.
While Maninder has a jewellery shop the girl, a Commerce graduate and still unmarried, was unemployed.
