Three missing after family jumps into canal

Moga, Feb 2 (UNI) Four members of a family allegedly jumped into a canal near Baghapurana village in the district late last night, police today said.

According to police, Amarjit Singh (35), a resident of Budhsinghwala village of Baghapurana sub-division, his wife Veerpal Kaur (32) and their five-year-old son and three-year-old daughter went to the Abohar Canal branch passing through neighbouring Channuwala village, and allgedly jumped into it.

Some villagers who were passing by the canal however, managed to save Veerpal Kaur but were unable to rescue her husband and two children, who were swept away. Efforts were on to locate them, police sources added.

Veerpal Kaur, who was in a state of shock was unable to talk to the police and the matter was under investigation, sources said.
