Tension over Forest officials house to house search
Mysore, Feb 2 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Shindenahalli in Hunsur Taluk in the District as villagers protested against Forest offcials conducting house to house searches following complaints about felling of valuable trees for firewood in the forest areas.
The offcials led by Deputy Conservator of Forests Vinay Kumar, visited the village along with police, to impose a fine on those who had wood in their possession. This sparked off protest by villagers.
The villagers contended that there were many villages around the forest area and why only their village was being checked.
The officials, however, continued their search.
However, the villagers vacated the village saying that they would not pay the fine.
The officials unearthed stored teakwood from many houses.
