Pranab Mukherjee meets Jyoti Basu in Kolkata

Kolkata, Feb 2 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee met veteran Marxist leadcer Jyoti Basu at his Salt Lake residence here today.

Mr Mukherjee remained closeted with the nonagenarian CPI(M) patriarch for more than half-an-hour.

However, describing his visit as a 'courtesy call', Mr Mukherjee said his objective was to inquire about the failing health of Mr Basu.
