One militant killed on LOC

Jammu, Feb 2 (UNI) The security forces today foiled an infiltration bid from the Line of Control (LoC) as they gunned down a militant, who had crossed the barbed fence to receive a group of intruders in Krishna Ghati area of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir, a Defence spokesman said.

Acting on a tip-off, Army troops intercepted a group of militants attempting to breach LoC last night.

''The militant, who had gone to receive the group, was killed by the Army while a search operation to trace the others was still in progress,'' Lt Col S D Goswami said.

Three AK rifles were also recovered from the site of encounter, he added.
