KMCH doctors to end stir tomorrow
Kozhikode, Feb 2 (UNI) Junior doctors of Kozhikode Medical College Hospital (KMCH), today decided to call off their indefinite agitation from tomorrow.
The decision to end the stir was taken after an assurance from the management to meet their main demand, deployment of more security force in the hospital, KMCH Superintendent Rajendran said.
He said the KMCH, which had a strength of 61 security staff, would increase it to 100 to meet the agitators demand soon.
Steps had already been initiated to recruit ex-servicemen and retired policemen to the post, he said.
He, however, said the functioning of the KMCH was not affected by the strike as the authorities had made alternative arragements to man the departments.
The agitators had alleged that they were forced to go on stir from this monring as the hospital management had failed to honour their promise of providing adequate security cover from February 1 to duty doctors, who were manhandled by patients and their attendants many times in the past.
