Four held for stage-managing kidnap drama

Chennai, Feb 2 (UNI) Police today arrested four people for stage-managing a kidnap drama at suburban Madipakkam here.

One Sankar, his wife Radha and another woman Uma Maheswari were arrested on charges of stage-managing the kidnapping of Sankar and cheating various people of several lakhs with forged property documents.

The fourth person, Ambika, said to be Sankar's paramour, who was initially alleged to have master-minded the kidnap to usurp his property, was arrested on charges of stealing jewellery and mobile phones from his residence.

Acting on a complaint from Radha that her husband was kidnapped, a special police team spotted Sankar in the area and arrested him.

During interrogation he spilled the beans and admitted to have stage-managed the kidnap drama, leading to the arrest.

All the arrested were remanded in judicial custody.

As the arrest of Sankar spread, several people, who were cheated by him with fake property documents, tarted making a beeline to the Madipakkam police with complaints.
