Cheated youths turn to Police
Puducherry, Feb 2 (UNI) Forty youths lodged a police complaint that they were cheated to the tune of Rs 3 crore by an agency here on promise of getting them a job abroad.
The youths who returned to Puducherry from Singapore said in their complaint that the agency Lui presidency at Nellithoppe here, claiming to be an associate agency of an institution in Singapore, offered hotel management course and jobs in Singapore. As many as 62 candidates had registered themselves with the agency paying Rs 4.5 lakhs each for a two year hotel management course and later employment.
The agency had sent all the 62 applicants to Singapore and were given training in a small room without any facility. On completion of the course, a certificate was issued to them. When they went to the employment registration centre in Singapore, they came to know that the institution was not recognized and there was no chance of them getting any job in Singapore.
Following this, they preferred the compaint with the Orleanpet police here.
