West Bengal to end culling operations today
Kolkata, Feb.2 : West Bengal's Animal Resources Development inister Anisur Rehman today said that his government plans to nd culling operations in the state's bird flu-affected districts n Saturday.
Rehman said that in Berhampore, 27 lakh birds were culled till aturday, when the remaining one lakh would be culled.
After culling ends in areas hit by the avian influenza, all ossible measures would be taken to disinfect the cooperatives, he residence of poultry owners and their neighbourhood, he said.
A comprehensive list containing the names of persons whose oultry had either died of the disease or culled will be compiled ery soon for compensation, he said.
For compensation, no difference will be made between Above overty Line and Below Poverty Line families, he said.
The state government, he said, will also take up with the Centre he issue of waiving of loans for women of self help groups who ad taken bank loans for setting up poultry business.
