U N Panjiar appointed Secretary, Water Resources Ministry

New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Mr U.N. Panjiar as the Secretary in the Ministry of Water Resources.

Mr Panjiar, an IAS officer of Bihar cadre of 1973 batch, is presently working as the Secretary, Border Management in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Mr Panjiar would replace Ms Gauri Chatterjee, IAS officer of West Bengal cadre of 1971, who has been repatriated to her cadre.

Mr Surendra Pal Gaur, IAS officer of UP cadre of 1974 batch has been been appointed as the Chairman Inland Waterways Authority of India, Department of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, in the rank and pay of Secretary. Mr Gaur, who is presently Secretary in the Union Public Service Commission would replace Mr S.B. Mathur, IAS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre of 1971 batch is superannuating on January 31, 2008.

Mr N S Sisodia, an IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre of 1968 (retired) has bee given an extension of tenure as the Director, Institute of Defence Studies and Analysis, for a further period of three years beyond August 16, 2008.
