Trials in CBI cases hanging since October 2007

Mumbai, Feb 1 (UNI) The transfer of all the four CBI court judges has put a halt to the hearing in such cases, as the multicrore fake stamp paper case involving Abdul Karim Telgi, since October 2007.

Over 500 cases are pending in these four CBI courts, according to court sources.

The Bombay High Court had transferred Judges A R Joshi, M L Tahiliyani, U D Salvi and Mohod in October last year. But, Judge Salvi had been granted two months extension in order to complete the hearing in the Bilkis Bano rape and massacre case, a post-Godhra riot case that had been transferred to Maharashtra from Gujarat.

However, Judge Salvi had pronounced the judgement in the case and now assumed charge as principal district judge at Solapur.

Similarly, the SC (Scheduled caste) and ST (Scheduled Tribe) cases are also pending, although some of the cases have progressed half-way, court sources added.
