Three nabbed with unaccounted Rs 1.98 crore

Patiala, Feb 1 (UNI) The Rajpura police have arrested three people, all residents of Delhi, after recovering Rs 1.98 crore of unaccounted cash from them.

According to the police, Sadar police, on a tip off, put up a check post on the Rajpura-Sirhind national highway 1 and stopped the car in which the three were travelling.

On suspicion, they searched the vehicle and recovered five bags containing the currency.

The trio could not give a satisfactory reply about the source of the money. The three were identified as Vipin Verma, Nitin Sharma and Harbans Singh, all residents of Delhi.

The police stated that the three were being questioned to ascertain the source of the cash. The police is also trying to figure out whether the three were involved in some 'Hawala' transactions.

Meanwhile, the police has also informed the income tax officials about the recovery and the matter was being investigated.
