Pawar assures Naik on fishermen's issues
Mumbai, Feb 1 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former petroleum minister Ram Naik today said Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has assured to consider his demands of increasing the rebate on diesel from Rs 1.50 to Rs 4 for fishermen and reduce the interest rate on their loans.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Naik said he had led a delegation of fishermen to Mr Pawar at New Delhi recently.
He said Mr Pawar also assured about the finalisation of plan for development of Arnala and Satpati fishing harbours in Thane district.
Mr Naik said the process to enact a law on regulating fishermen's conflicts in the high seas will begin in a fortnight.
