Dubrajpur, Birbhum, Feb 1 (UNI) India has sought information from the US and China on the remedy to combat avian influenza, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said today.
He said since China and America had been affected by the highly contagious virus, the information from the two countries regarding preventive measures and vaccination, if any, could help India contain the disease.
Talking to newspersons Mr Mukherjee said the Centre had already alerted all the states to take precautionary measures against the dreaded H5N1 virus.
The bird flu that is currently raging has already devastated the poultry business since millions of chickens have been culled in districts of West Bengal.
