Five held for carrying fake NOC

Chennai, Feb 1 (UNI) Air Customs officials have arrested five people on the charge of possessing fake No Objection Certificates (NOC) to travel to Sharjah, at the Anna International Airport here today.

Airport officials said that during immigration check, it was found that Ramesh (30), Palanivel (33), Raju (48), Jeevanantham (35) and Mohammad Nissar Rehman (25), all of them hailing from Nagapattinam district in the State, were carrying fake NOCs.

The accused confessed that they had given Rs one lakh each to a travel agent to obtain NOC for working in Sharjah as construction labourers.

The arrested were handed over to the airport police for further investigation.
