Mizoram: Famine committee calls for unity

Aizawl, Feb 01: The newly-formed Mizoram Famine Emergency Committee has appealed to the people to jointly fight against the disastrous Mautam, famine caused due to massive bamboo-flowering.

Chaired by Home Minister Tawnluia, the committee has Food Minister K Sangthuama as its vice-chairman, disaster management secretary K Riachho as secretary and representatives of different churches, all Legislature parties and NGOs.

The committee is formed to provide relief to the people affected by the famine and has welcomed contributions from people and organisations.

The funds donated would be used to provide relief materials to the affected people.
