CPM will not allow Centre to increase petro prices: Yechuri
Begusarai, Feb 1 (UNI) Senior CPM leader and Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechuri today said there would be no hike in price of petroleum and said his party would force the Centre to slash the profit margin to contain the price rise of oil.
While addressing the 19th state level convention of the party here, Mr Yechuri said the CPM would not allow the Centre to increse the oil prices under any circumstances despite the impending market pressure.
The Centre could avail the option of decreasing the profit margin to check the price rise of oil in the intertest of the masses, he added.
'' The Common Minimum Programme (CMP) prepared by UPA and Left was the 'Laxman Rekha' and the CPM would withdraw support from the UPA government once it violates the demarcating line,'' he said adding his party would not allow to jeopardise the interests of the country during finalisation of Indo-US nuclear agreement.
Mr Yechuri advocated for third alternative in the country and said the left parties would take initiative in this regard. ''Mass movement for development of the country was need of the hour,'' he remarked.
