Cop, killed by robbers, to be awarded posthumously
Thane, Feb 1 (UNI) Police officer Babasaheb Adhav who was killed while trying to foil a robbery in Navi Mumbai, will be awarded the Maharana Pratap Shourya Puraskar posthumously at a function to be held here on Sunday.
The award will be presented on the occasion of the Rashtriya Kavi Sammelan being organized by the Rajasthani Seva Samiti and the Hindi Bhasha Prachar Sabha.
Chief organiser of the Kavi Sammelan Adv Banwarilal Sharma told reporters here today that every year three awards are given away to prominent persons from the state for their contribution to the society.
The two other awards which will be given away are the Harivanshrai Bachchan Award for Arts, Literature and Culture which will be presented to Dr Ramji Tiwari of the Mumbai University, and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Award which will be presented to noted surgeon Dr Tatyasaheb Lahane.
The Kavi Sammelan will be inaugurated at the hands of Justice C S Dharmadhikari.
