Complaint case against Raj Thakre in Bihar
Patna, Feb 1 (UNI) A complaint case was today filed before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate R.P.Singh against Maharashtra Navnirman Morcha leader Raj Thakre, nephew of Shiv Sena leader Bal Thakre, for allegedly issuing provocative statements.
The case was filed under sections 153 and 153 A of the IPC for "making provocative statements with intention to cause riot and promoting enmity between classes". Under both the cognizeable offences imprisonment varies between 6 months to 3 years.
Section 153 is bailable but section 153 A is not.
The case had been filed by one Shashi Kumar Pandey.
The matter would be heard on February 5.
Mr Thakre had dubbed the offerings made to the Sun God during 'Chhath' festival in Mumbai, as a 'drama' of the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Political parties had reacted sharply to Raj Thakre's statement and several of them had burnt his effigy in Patna yesterday.
