Cold wave to persist for few days
Kolkata, Jan 31 (UNI) The city and the adjoining areas which had not experienced cold wave for the last few years, is witnessing it since yesterday.
The cold wave condition in Bengal and adjoining areas is likely to continue for the next 72 hours, the Alipore Met officials said here today.
The minimum temperature for the day was 11 degrees Celsius where as the maximum temperature was 22 (-6) degree Celsius.
The maximum relative humidity was 94 per cent.
Districts like Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri reeled under the spine chilling cold with night temperature taking a dip below zero degrees Celisius.
The weathermen also predicted that the minimum temperature will plunge further following western disturbances in the North West part of the country.
