Centre stays demolition and sealing operation in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) Obviously with an eye on the assembly elections in Delhi later this year, the Central Government today directed the Delhi Government to stop demolition or sealing of any encroachment or unauthorised development on private land and in unauthorised colonies.

The directions issued under section 5 of the National Capital territory of Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Act, 2007, by the Urban Development Ministry also said that ''notwithstanding any judgement, decree, or order of court, steps shall be taken by the local authority, including desealing, to maintain status quo as on January 1, 2006 in respect of encroachment or unauthorised development, referred to in Section 3 of the said Act, except in respect of unauthorised colonies, village abadi area and its extension.
