Carrying firearms prohibited in Kohima
Kohima, Feb 1 (UNI) Firearms and ammunition have been prohibited in this district of Nagaland in view of the Assmebly elections slated for March 5.
Kohima Deputy Commissioner Sachopra Vero has, by an order, prohibited carrying of any firearms in the district till the election process was over.
The order, issued yesterday, said the district administration will ensure security coverage in Kohima district by means of intensive patrolling, frisking, checking of vehicles and at the same time directed all administrative and police officers in the district to strictly comply with the order.
In a separate release, the Superintendent of Police of Kohima Renchamo P Kikon informed the general public that in view of the prevailing law and order situation and the ensuing Assembly elections, all vehicles, including government vehicles, will be compulsorily checked at the check gates.
