Britney's mum 'devastated' by her deteriorated mental state

Washington, Feb 1 : Days before Britney Spears was rushed to a psychiatric hospital, her mum Lynne Spears flew out to L.A. and was shaken to see how badly her daughter's mental condition had deteriorated, reveals a source.

The fallen pop princess was taken to University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Centre following a breakdown on Jan 31.

"Lynne was devastated," Us magazine quoted a source, as saying.

"She hadn't seen her in a while and to see her deteriorated to this level - what mother wouldn't be affected by that? It's awful," the source added.

Another source revealed that Spears' divorced husband, Kevin Federline was worried about the pop icon and thought that the psychiatric hospital was the best place for her to get a proper treatment.
