AIDWA stages demo for judicial inquiry into nurse's death

Madurai, Feb 1 (UNI) Members of the All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) today staged a slogan shouting demonstration, demanding judicial inquiry into the mysterious death of a nurse at Kalavasal in the city.

Led by AIDWA District Secretary Manimekalai, the agitators, numbering about 100, demanded that the Tamil Nadu Government order a judicial inquiry into the death of S Karpagavalli, a nurse who was found hanging under mysterious circumstances at the house of businessman Nagesh, a close associate of a ruling DMK functionary, on January 26 last.

The Tamil Nadu police had said it was purely a suicide case due to love failure. The girl had committed suicide after her lover refused to marry her. However, the Tamil Nadu Government had ordered a Crime Branch CID police probe into her death.
