Pondy Minister's resignation demanded
Puducherry, Jan 31 (UNI) Puducherry Municipal Councillors Federation today demanded the resignation of Local Administration Minister Malladi Krishna Rao for his failure to devolve powers to the elected local body representatives and not taking any initiative to prevent the agitation by the Local Administration department employees against the Councillors.
Addressing a press conference here, Federation Convener Mathi alias Venkatesan also demanded the suspension of Local Administration Department Director Vallabhan for appointing ex-servicemen as supervisors of garbage cleaning here, without brining it to the notice of the municipality or municipal councillors. He also wanted the appointments to be cancelled.
He said that when the Councillors heard about the appointment of ex-servicemen bypassing the municipality and councillors, they submitted a memorandum to the Director and for this, the employees had organised an agitation against the Councillors.
