NSUI seeks to tap student power in Sikkim

Gangtok, Jan 31 (UNI) A two-member team of National Student Union of India (NSUI), student wing of the Congress, has arrived in Sikkim for a two-day visit to open its units in different colleges.

NSUI spokesperson Anand Pandey, also in-charge of Sikkim and West Begnal, said here today that they will be interacting with state party leaders and college students.

''We will be submitting a report to Youth Congress president Rahul Gandhi to set up a system in Sikkim and guide the students for taking active part in politics,'' Mr Pandey said.

He was accompanied by Biswajit Sarkar, secretary of West Bengal Chatra Parishad.

''The NSUI is practically non-existent in Sikkim and we will try to open our branches in all the six colleges for creating political awareness among the students,'' he said.

The party was to create a vibrant student force in the state within the next six months before the Assembly elections, he said.
