Mountains freeze as cold wave likely to descend over Bengal
Kolkata, Jan 31 (UNI) Cold wave condition is all set to lash most parts of West Bengal among other states of eastern India.
Alipore Met Department Director G C Debnath said a cold wave condition is likely to persist in most of West Bengal for the next 48 hours.
Although the maximum relative humidity was recorded at 94 per cent, there would be no more rainfall in the city in the next 48 hours, he said.
Darjeeling today recorded a minimum temperature of -2 degree Celsius, while last night's temperature being recorded at -3.5 degrees Celsius, Jalpaiguri Met department Director Tapan Kanti Chakraborty said.
While Coochbehar recorded a minimum of 7 degrees Celsius, Kolkata recorded a minimum of 13 degree Celsius. Alipore Met department officials informed that the minimum will soon drop to 11 degree Celsius.
Due to a disturbance in skies over the western parts of the country, temperature is expected to drop further in the next two days, Met officials said.
