Law and Order collapsed under Cong regime: Naidu
Vijayawada, Jan 31 (UNI) TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu today claimed that law and order in the state has collapsed under the present Congress regime.
When queried by media at the Gannavaram airport here regarding the rape and murder of a B Pharm student of Nimra Engineering College in Ibrahimpatnam, near here, in her hostel on December 27 last year, Mr Naidu said the state government had utterly failed to punish the culprits involved in the incident and alleged instead it was shielding them.
There was no protection for women in the State and the incidents of rape and murder were growing at an alarming pace, the TDP supremo claimed.
Mr Naidu flayed the Congress government for not arresting the people involved in the bomb blasts that rocked the State capital in August last year.
He said handing over the rape and number case to the CBI would serve no purpose, ''as the agency was a puppet in the hands of the Centre''. Condemning the heinous acts, he warned the government that he would resort to ''direct action'', if the case was not solved.
Ayesha Meera of Nimra Engineering College in Ibrahimpatnam was raped and murdered by an unknown assailant at her hostel on December 27 last year.
Earlier Mr Naidu arrived at the Gannavaram airport by a private airways flight from Hyderabad for proceeding to Prakasam district to participate in the two-day Yeruvaka programme.
