Kerala Dist fears Malaria

Alappuzha, Kerala, Jan 31: After reeling under the grip of Chikungunya, people in this district are now fearing the spread of malaria.

According to Joint Director of National Institute of Communicable Disease, Dr Rajendran, anopheles mosquitoes responsible for spreading malaria had been found in Kayamkulam and Mannar and could migrate to other places.

'' The coastal area of the district is a breeding ground for the mosquitoes,'' he said.

Following the detection of a malaria case in Cherthala, the health authorities were taking all precautionery measures to prevent the disease from spreading to other places.
