Kerala bags first prize for Republic Day tableau
New Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) Kerala has bagged the first prize for the best tableau in the Republic Day parade this year.
Defece Minister A K Antony presented the award to the team members at a function here today.
"Pulikkali", a tiger dance popular in Central Kerala, "Padayanai", a folk art form, "Arayannathoni", a bird boat, and "Thiruvathirakali", a customay dance, were featured at the tableau, participiated by some 35 artistes.
The harvest festival of Kerala "Onam" was presented in all its splendour and gaiety by ten Malayalee dancers.
Kerala had bagged the first prize for the best tableau in 1995 and second prize in 2004.
