Haryana spending Rs 2.25 crore for Sci and Tech project

Chandigarh, Jan 31 (UNI) The Haryana Government is spending Rs 2.25 crore on implementation of various schemes of Science and Technology Department during the current financial year.

While giving this information, here today, the Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Mr.Chander Mohan said that Haryana State Council for Science and technology was implementing a number of schemes which included organising of science quiz contest, science essay writing competition, children's science congress and celebrations of National Science Day.

Mr Chander Mohan said that besides the department was also providing grant to various institutions of the State for holding seminars and workshops and a sum of Rs. 17 lakh was released to the Science and Technology Council to organise such function. He said that the department also organising science awareness camp, popular science lectures in collaboration with National Brain Research Centre, Gurgaon.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that department had also provided financial assistance to three scientists of the state for presenting their research papers in the international conferences and seminars, which were held abroad.

The construction work of this building of Science and Technology Department was in full swing at Panchkula and it was expected that it would be completed soon.

He said that with a view to popularise and disseminate astronomy in the State, the Department had set up a planetarium at total cost of Rs. 6.50 crore at Kurukshetra in the memory eminent astronaut Kalpana Chawla of Karnal.
