Fine for spitting, throwing garbage from Apr 1
Chennai, Jan 31 (UNI) With the aim of keeping the city clean and healthy, the Chennai Corporation today decided impose fine for spitting or throwing garbage in public areas.
A resolution passed at its council meeting today said the new rule will come into effect from April one this year.
A fine of Rs 50 would collected for spitting, urinating or taking bath in public areas and Rs 100 for dumping of garbage.
Apart from this, a fine of Rs 500 would be also imposed on those burning garbage in public places and Rs 1,000 on residents not keeping the surroundings tidy.
