Couple crushed to death in UP

Jaunpur, Jan 31: A cycle-borne couple was crushed to death by a speeding truck in Maharajganj area of this district today.

Srideen Bind (52) and Sursatti Devi (50), on the way to Badlapur, were hit by the truck, coming from Maharajganj. The couple died on the spot in the accident, police said. An enraged mob of locals later created a ruckus on Gorakhpur-Allahabad highway.

The jam could be lifted only after senior police officials reached the spot.

The bodies had been sent for post-mortems, while further investigation was on.
