Congress supporters torch rival candidate's vehicle

Shillong, Jan 31 (UNI) Independent candidate Roland Shylla's car was today allegedly torched by supporters of Congress candidate Sngiawbhalang Dhar.

Police said the incident occurred in the wee hours, when three persons set ablaze the gypsy car kept inside Mr Shylla's residential compound.

Mr Shylla alleged that the three youths, owing allegiance to the Congress candidate, burnt the car.

Both the candidates are contesting the Assembly slated on March 3 from Nangbah-Wahiajer constituency in Jaintia Hills.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case in this connection.
