Chilly winds bring mercury down to 3.4 deg C
New Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) Chilly northwesterly winds today continued to leave Delhiites shivering with the mercury falling to 3.4 degrees Celsius, six degrees below normal.
After a slight rise on Tuesday, the minimum temperature today continued its downwards movement for a second consecutive day, falling to 3.4 degrees Celsius, from 4.1 degrees yesterday. A slight mist was also witnessed in the morning though visibility levels remained normal at 1000 m.
The severe chill sweeping the National Capital could persist for another day or two with the weatherman forecasting a drop in minimum temperature to 2 degrees Celsius tomorrow.
The Weatherman attributes the cold wave in the city this week, as also the whole of last week, to the influence of the northwesterly winds.
The Met office has forecast a mainly clear sky during the next 24 hours with the possibility of slight mist in the morning.
