Fair Pakistan polls impossible: Zardari
Karachi,

Ali
Zardari
has
said
that
his
wife
Benazir
Bhutto's
"martyrdom" is
the
biggest
proof
that
the
February

general
elections
in
Pakistan
will

rigged.
Interacting with a five-member delegation of the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) headed by former chief justice of Pakistan Justice (r) Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui at Bilawal House here on Tuesday, Zardari said the nation was hurt after Benazir's assassination and transparent elections were the only way out for the country. The Daily Times further quoted him as saying that transparent elections seemed impossible to him under the present circumstances because of postings being made by local government representatives "to rig the elections".
He called for the support of civil society in raising awareness among people about their rights. "The PPP believes in the sovereignty of parliament," he added.
Zardari also met a two-member delegation of the National Democratic Institute (NDI).
