Lahore, Jan.30 : A Scotland Yard team is likely to arrive here next week to investigate the murder of a 22-year-old pregnant British-Pakistani girl who had died in a private hospital on January 24.

Quoting a source in Glasgow, Scotland, the Daily Times said Sobia Wali, a woman who had been pregnant for five months, was allegedly declared dead of food poisoning in Lahore while on a visit with her parents to attend her grandmother's funeral.

Sources said she belonged to Gujranwala and had been living with her family in Glasgow, where she had secretly married Usman Gulzar on December 27.

An official at the private hospital where she died said Sobia was in a serious condition when she was admitted. She said Sobia had undergone an abortion.

No case has been filed with the Gujranwala Police so far.

Meanwhile, Glasgow MP Muhammed Sarwar has told STV News that he would speak to detectives in Glasgow and Foreign Office officials, as well as senior detectives in Pakistan on Wednesday.

"It is understood he will be pressing for Sobia's body to be exhumed and undergo a post mortem," the channel said.
