One dead in poll violence in Tuli

Kohima, Jan 30 (UNI) One person was killed and four were injured when two factions of aspiring Congress candidates from the Tuli Assembly constituency under Mokokchung district clashed last night, official sources said here today..

The supporters of S Imti Jamir and T Tali fought bitterly in Kangtsung village under the constituency resulting in the death of a supporter of Tali faction., the sources added.

The supporter identified as Tsuknungyanger(30) succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

He was the third person killed in Kangtsung village in the election rivalry since last year. The four others injured were also admitted to hospital.

The Congress today announced the name of Imti Jamir as the official candidate from the constituency. Meanwhile, tension ran high in the village and the district administration rushed additional forces there to keep the situation under control.
