MP Government to promote Science among Youngsters
Bangalore, Jan 30 (UNI) To nurture and develop the gifted and exceptionally bright High School Students, the Madhya Pradesh Government will send as many as 1000 students to Bangalore, the capital of Science and Technology, in a special train 'Vigyan Manthan Express' to motivate them to take up Science career.
Prof K I Vasu, President Vigyan Bharati and Chairman Task Force for S&T, Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, speaking to newsmen here today said that students drawn from all the 48 Districts would visit Science and Technology Institutions in Bangalore and also interact with eminent scientists and technologists.
He said that the 'Fun and Learn' tour was a part of MP Government's ambitious programme 'Mission Excellence' targeted to identify and nurture over 10 lakh students and youth from the state during 11th plan.
He said that the programme was being coordinated by the MP Council of Science and Technology with a focus to identify scientific talent from the target group of School and College going students, Young scientists and nurture them to excel in their fields.
On the 'Vigyan Manthan Express' Mr Vasu said a large number of teachers would accompany the students in visits to prestigious institutions like IISc, HAL, NAL, Viveswaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, NIMHANS and ISRO. The students would also have an opportunity to interact with eminent scientists at the end of the tour, he added.
He said that the 'Fun and Learn' tour will help the students to enrich their knowledge and understanding the cultures of those around them, enhancing their thinking skill, creativity, decision making, problem solving and reasoning.
Mr Vasu said that the Vigyan Manthan Express, a specially chartered train traveled by students and teachers was flagged off on January 28 by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivaraj Singh Chauhan at Habibganj Railway Station Bhopal. The students will also visit Pune and Kanyakumari in the Special train, he added.
