Mercedes Benz 'C-Class' launched
Chennai, Jan 30 (UNI) Luxury segment car major Mercedez Benz is bullish to achieve a four digit figure in the first year in terms of sales volume of its new brand 'C-Class', which was launched here today.
Talking to reporters at the launch function, Daimler Chrysler India Private Limited Head (Marketing) Sanjiv Sahajwala said the company sold more than 5,200 units of the previous C-Class since its launch in January 2001 to December last.
''Last year, we sold about 790 cars and we are bullish about the new C-Class. We are expecting phenomenally higher numbers...We are expecting that it will touch the four digit mark before January 2009,'' he added.
He said the company was looking at a total sales of 3,000 cars spread cross all segments (S-class, E-class, C-class and CBUs) in 2008 as against 2,491 cars in 2007, a growth of 18 per cent when compared to last year.
Of the 2,491 cars sold in 2007, eight per cent was from Tamil Nadu.
Mr Sahajwala said the company till date had sold about six million C-Class cards all over the world and it was the world leader in this segment.
The new C-class was priced in the range of Rs 26.5 lakh to Rs 31 lakh (ex-showroom).
