Mayawati govt directive for effective SC/ST Act implementation
Lucknow, Jan 30 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today directed the police to take measures for effective implementation of the SC/ST Act.
As per the directives, cases registered under SC/ST Act, including crimes like rape and murder, should be dealt with effectively by the police department.
However, no innocent person be punished under the Act. If a case was learnt to be fabricated or lodged with an intention to frame an innocent person, the culprit be booked under section 182 IPC.
The Home department further directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to keep a monthly record of cases registered under the Act and apprise the government of its progress periodically.
