LAD employees boycott work, stage dharna

Puducherry, Jan 30 (UNI) Employees of the Local Administration Department (LAD) boycotted work and staged a dharna before their office today.

The agitation was to condemn the municipal councillors, who picketted the LAD yesterday, and entered into a wordly duel with the LAD Drector LAD before submitting a representation to him.

The employees later took out a procession and submitted a memorandum to the senior Superintendent of Police, seeking protection to them.

It may be noted that when the councillors came to LAD to submit a memorandum to the Director Vallabhan to register their protest on the appointment of ex-servicemen as superivisors of the garbage cleaning scheme being operated by the municipality, without consulting the councillors or placing in the council meeting, Mr Vallabhan was not available following which, they picketted the office.

After the Director arrived, they entered into a wordly duel with him before submitting the memorandum.
