Kisan leader demands Govt to reduce Bt cotton seed prices
Hyderabad, Jan 30 (UNI) All India Kisan Sabha Vice-President K Nageshwara Rao today demanded that the Government reduce the prices of BT cotton seeds as the Mansanto-Mahyco company was going to increase the prices in the coming season.
Addressing mediapersons here, he said the 'BT cotton-one' seed prices should not exceed Rs 750 per packet, while the BT cotton-2 price be maintained at Rs 950. The Government had announced the Seed policy in the State, with which it could control the prices.
Pointing out that the company had sold the seeds at Rs 1,800 per packet in 2005, he demanded that the Government re-collect the money from the company and reimburse the extra amount to the farmers.
