HP pays tributes to Mahatma on 60th death anniversary

Shimla, Jan 30 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh PWD Minister Gulab Singh Thakur led the people of the state in paying their tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on the 60th anniversary of his martyrdom here today.

Mr Thakur, Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) Mayor Narender Kataria, BJP's Shimla Urban president Madan Sharma, former SMC mayor Sohan Lal and several other prominet people of the town paid their floral tributes to the Mahatma's statute at the historic The Ridge Maidan.

The people who were present on the occasion observed a two minutes silence in the memoray of all the martyrs who laid down their lives during the country's freedom movement.

Ram Dhun and Bhakti songs were also presented by the artists on the occasion.
