Govt denies that FM has stated that Budget would be harsh on people
New Delhi, Jan 30 (UNI) The Ministry of Finance today "stoutly" denied a report that Finance Minister P Chidambaram had indicated that the Budget 2008-09 would be harsh on the people.
A clarification by the Ministry said that at a function here yesterday, Mr Chidambaram, in reply to a "light hearted" question, had humorously said "you may not be kind to me on February 29th." "It is disappointing that PTI should draw any unwarranted inference from the above", the statement said.
