Cold condition continues in Jammu
Jammu, Jan 30 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir continued to reel under intense cold wave condition as frozen winds from the snow-covered mountains continued to lash the low-lying areas.
Several areas, including the hill resorts of Pahalgam, Kokernag and Qazigund in Kashmir and Patni top in Jammu besides world famous pilgrimage of Mata Vaishno Devi, recorded sub-zero temperatures.
Many places in the Kashmir valley and upper reaches of Poonch and Doda districts of Jammu region experienced fresh snowfall today, Meteorological department sources at Srinagar told UNI. ''Snowfall has again started at Pahalgam in the evening,'' they said.
Minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded minus 1.0 degree Celsius and maximum 6.7 degree Celsius, the Met sources said.
In winter capital city, minimum the temperature was recorded at 4.0 degree Celsius while maximum was 18 degree Celsius. At Batote the minimum temperature was minus 2.4 degrees and maximum 7.5 degree Celsius.
Similarly, at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, the base-camp of Katra the minimum temperature was recorded at 3.3 degree while the maximum was 14.9 degree Celsius.
However, vehicular movement on the 300-km-long Jammu-Srinagar national highway was resumed, sources said.
