BSP MP's bail petition dismissed

Jaunpur, Jan 30: Ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Umakant Yadav's bail petition, in a murder case has been dismissed by the District Judge on merit.

Umakant is an MP from Machlishahr area here. On August 24, 2007, Shyam Kanhaiya Yadav, gram pradhan of Japtapur in Sarai Khwaja area, was shot dead. ''Five people, including the BSP MP, were accused of the murder,'' district government counsel (criminal) Vijay Nath Singh said. The MP is presently incarcerated in the Fatehgarh Central Jail. District Judge Shivanand Mishra rejected the bail plea yesterday.
